Joy Set Center and GBon Service inaugurated in Rangpur

'Joy SET Center' (Joy Smart Service and Employment Training Center) is being built in Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur with the aim of increasing the skills of the youth in information technology and create employment. The center will have digital lab, training room, start-up zone, plug and play zone and office infrastructure facilities for district/upazila ICT officials. 10 entrepreneurs/freelancers together will get working facility at upazila level and 15 people together at district level will get working facility.

The Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury inaugurated the construction work of the center on Sunday, March 17, along with the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Mohammad Mobashwer Hasan presided over the event, Director General of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology Md. Mostafa Kamal, Project Director of Digital Connectivity (EDC) Project Tanzina Islam along with project officials were present on the occasion.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day, the State Minister handed over one laptop each to 1190 smart women entrepreneurs of 7 districts, 28 upazilas of Rangpur Division under the Her Power project on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

On the same day, he visited Rangpur district post office and inaugurated high speed internet connection capability service GBon. 4 thousand GBon connections in Rangpur district, 2 thousand 300 in Lalmonirhat and 3 thousand 600 in Thakurgaon district, 2 thousand 300 in Panchagarh district, 3 thousand in Kurigram district, 3 thousand in Dinajpur district, 3 thousand 600 in Nilphamari district were inaugurated at this time.
